Bird-feeding and promoting feeding birds is a big problem in some townships in our region.
Native birds shouldn’t be fed by humans as it can cause them to become dependent on us, become aggressive, get sick and even die.
Bird feeding is such an issue in Kennett River that it’s causing a risk to the safety of the birds, tourists and residents.
We recommend that operators do not promote bird feeding and should advise visitors against this at any location to assist with the protection of the wildlife, visitor experience and our communities.
